Plans To Build A New School
On Saturday, July 13, 2019 Dikembe and Rose Mutombo flew from Kinshasa to the city of Mbuji Mayi which is located in the Kasai-Oriental Province. Mbuji Mayi is the third largest city in the DR Congo, but despite its large population, the city remains remote, having little connection to surrounding provinces. Dikembe paid respect to his ancestors when he arrived in the ancestral city of his late parents Samuel and Biamba Marie Mutombo where he plans to build a new school. Dikembe and Rose were warmly received by the Honorable Jean Maweja Muteba, Governor of Kasai-Oriental. Hundreds of residents greeted them as the walked through the city. Later they were taken to site for the proposed Samuel Mutombo Institute of Science. Before his retirement, Samuel Mutombo was an educator and a devoted school superintendent.
